About our Level 3 Award in Education & Training (formerly PTLLS) Courses
Ever thought about a career in education and wasn’t sure what the first steps are?
The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is offered over one term and will give you the tools and confidence to take those first steps into teaching or training.
This course is an ideal starting point if you are wishing to teach in the post-compulsory sector (age 14+). This sector includes private training providers and large organisations with in-house training departments as well as sixth form, further, higher, and adult education, hospitals and the prison service. It also includes community and youth, and uniformed services so there is a wide range of opportunities to take your career further.
During the programme you will develop ideas and skills around inclusive teaching and learning and undertake project work with your group and individually. You will learn some fundamental skills of teaching, learning and assessment and you will finish the course by teaching your group a small topic within your specialist area.
What will you learn?
- Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
- Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training

What qualifications and experience do you need?
There are no formal entry requirements. You are required to have evidence of Level 3 vocational skills for the area in which you may teach in the future. It is recommended that you hold the equivalent of Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English.
