Design and Development for Engineering and Manufacturing T Level
This exciting new course offers real-world learning alongside the academic qualifications you need to progress into higher education or employment.Topics covered include customer and client requirements, principles of design, design processes and communication in design.T Levels are new courses which follow GCSEs and are equivalent to three A Levels. This two-year course has been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares you for work.If you are interested in studying an academic qualification that has a hands-on approach to learning, then this is the course for you.It focuses on the development of knowledge and skills needed to work for working in the engineering industry, which will prepare you to enter the industry through employment or as an apprentice.Spread across two years, it has also been developed for progression onto a degree-level programme in an Engineering discipline, offering the UCAS points you need for university entry.
Study at Level:
This course is the equivalent of Level 3.
In addition to completing the mandatory core component, you will have the choice of studying one of the following specialisms:• Mechanical engineering• Electrical and electronic engineering• Control and instrumentation engineering• Structural engineering.
This course is assessed through a series of practical and online multiple-choice tests. We can help you when deciding which course or option you wish to take. During your course we ensure you develop employability skills and gain relevant experience.
You will require a minimum of 5 GCSEs grade 4 or above including Maths and English.
Includes 9 weeks minimum working with an employer on an industry placement.There is an expectation each learner will undertake work experience, This can be arranged by the learner with the help of the college team to ensure that the placement is maintaining a safe working environment or potentially work experience may be offered through the colleges companies already providing placements for apprentices.
As part of the study Programme, Learners will have the opportunity to visit relevant work environments and/or manufacturers to gain an understanding of the processes of the industry. Parental/guardian permission for trip is essential and will be sought at the beginning of the course to prevent delays or disappointment.
This course is suitable for anyone interested in a career in design and development for engineering and manufacturing. Career options might include: CAD Technician or 3d printing technician, plus many other options.
During your course, we ensure you develop employability skills and gain the relevant experience for your next steps. We provide information, advice and support when completing your course and progressing to work or going into further study. When applying for university, we can provide support with the UCAS application and Student Finance. Once you’ve completed a Level 3 qualification, you could progress into employment or further your studies with the HNC in Engineering at Scarborough TEC.
