Carpentry and Joinery

If you want to train in Carpentry and Joinery our experienced tutors will guide you through the skills areas in our industry standard equipped workshops.

Carpenters and Joiners require an eye for detail, a sense of precision and a creative flair.

You’ll learn about construction technology, using woodwork joints, maintenance of tools and using power tools. Building on this you will learn about erecting structural carcassing, using circular saws and carrying out first and second fix operations.

You also have the option of training for a multi trades qualification including Brickwork and Joinery with the opportunity to study one of those at a higher level. You’ll also get the chance to gain valuable work experience with local companies and community projects.

What you will learn

All you need to do is apply for the subject of your choice and we will work out the level of course with you, using your predicted and actual GCSE results and other qualifications. Maths and English are essential subjects, if you missed out on gaining an A-C grade at school these will be studied alongside your main course to give you more opportunities in the future.

Whatever level you need to start at, if you just missed out on a grade or if you need more stretch and challenge, our courses will be tailored just for you to ensure your learning success.

We offer qualifications up to Level 3 in construction.

If you want to progress in the construction industry Scarborough TEC offer qualifications up to Level 3 in construction. These qualifications will give you an in-depth insight into the principles and technologies involved in the sector. Apprenticeship routes are also available in carpentry and joinery.
