Computing is where you learn by making. You’ll soon be building imaginative games, web apps, digital interfaces and interactive products, and become future-proof as you leave as an in demand fusion of creative thinker and technical expert.

Utilise tools you are familiar; with from Minecraft, through to Oculus VR and Apple products, working with the world around you to develop the skills you need to go into a computing career.

The course is set up in a series of projects and these are all industry focused to give you a much greater understanding of the digital world. Working with real projects and local businesses, you will learn skills to become a true digital developer. Topics you will cover include;

Web development – Developing a website from start to finish, including using HTML 5, CSS and Javascript (jQuery) to control the site, learners will construct a working site for a real client.

Systems Architecture and Cyber Security – Build a PC from the ground up, understanding how all the components go together to create a functioning system. Moving on to Network and Cyber Security including setting up and securing a network, before looking at hacking tools to infiltrate existing networks.

It’s Robot Wars! – Build a robot with your team from everyday items, design an interface system, and let it go head-to-head against your fellow learners’ creations!

Our courses are tailored to you

All you need to do is apply for the subject of your choice and we will work out the level of course with you, using your predicted and actual GCSE results and other qualifications. Maths and English are essential subjects, if you missed out on gaining an A-C grade at school these will be studied alongside your main course to give you more opportunities in the future.

Whatever level you need to start at, if you just missed out on a grade or if you need more stretch and challenge, our courses will be tailored just for you to ensure your learning success.

We offer Level 2 and 3 in computing.

What next?

There are a range of university courses available to you after completing a computing course such as computer science or if you have a particular interest in games you may choose to go on to university to study games technology.
