Foundation & Progression Years

Courses to prepare you for further study and training at Scarborough TEC

Being prepared for the world of work, developing your independence skills, enhancing your social skills and fostering a valuable role within the community can all be big steps to take. Scarborough TEC will guide and support you to achieving these goals and more with one of our Foundation & Progression Years.

These Entry Level and Level 1 courses are ideal for anyone who requires extra support as they prepare you to go onto further study and training at Scarborough TEC.  Students with an Education Health & Care Plan (EHCP) will be offered additional support throughout the course to progress their skills in preparation for the next level.

As a student on one of our Foundation & Progression Years programmes you will get the very the best opportunities to learn in small groups within our excellent facilities at our Filey Road campus.

We will work with you to ensure your English, maths and ICT skills are the best they can be and we will support you as you improve your skills and have the chance to take part in extra activities to prepare you for the world of work.

Each of the courses below will give you hands-on experience in your chosen area and help you develop the skills necessary to continue on to the next level of study when you are ready.

To apply for any of these courses simply fill in the application form and one of our Student Recruitment team will contact you to discuss which course area you are interested in and arrange an appointment for you with the appropriate member of staff.

English & Maths

If you haven’t achieved a GCSE Grade 4 (C) in English and/or Maths you will be required to either; take a Functional Skills qualification if you have achieved a Grade 1 or 2, or retake the GCSE if you’ve achieved Grade 3. You will be fully supported by our specialist team ahead of taking the exam.

Supported Internships

Through Scarborough TEC you can study for a Supported Internship, which is designed for anyone aged 16-24 years old who has an Education Health & Care Plan (EHCP).
