Construction Trades Getting Started
This qualification provides the ideal introduction to the construction industry and covers essential skills in the following construction trades: Bricklaying, Carpentry and Joinery.This qualification is suitable for individuals of any age wanting an introduction to the variety of construction trades, to gain skills in those areas and perhaps to decide which trade is the right one to pursue a career in. No previous knowledge or experience is required.
Study at Level:
Entry Level
You will learn the techniques used by tradespeople in the workplace and you will be provided with the training to improve your skills over several weeks in each trade area, the more effort and desire to succeed you put in, the more progress you will make.
There are no formal entry requirements but this course requires a good attitude, dedication and a willingness to learn.
There is an expectation each learner will undertake work experience. This can be arranged by the learner with the help of the college team to ensure that the placement is maintaining a safe working environment or potentially work experience may be offered through the colleges companies already providing placements for apprentices
As part of the study programme, learners will have the opportunity to visit relevant work environments and/or manufacturers to gain an understanding of the processes of the industry. Parental/guardian permission for trip is essential and will be sought at the beginning of the course to prevent delays or disappointment.
Learners can apply to progress onto the level 1 Diploma in Carpentry, Plumbing or Bricklaying if they have shown a commitment to all aspects of the entry Programme including English, Math's and have attendance above 90%.
