Access to Higher Education
Pathways include Education, Health or Policing and the Social Justice System
Our Access to Higher Education courses are available at Level/s 3
If you want to go into Higher Education (HE) and study for a degree, but feel held back by a lack of qualifications or confidence, the Access to Higher Education course could be just what you need.
It allows people with a mature attitude towards learning, who may not have reached their full potential at school, or lack traditional qualifications, to return to education and succeed. The course is designed to build confidence, develop academic skills and fully prepare you for university.
English & Maths
If you haven’t achieved a GCSE Grade 4 (C) in English and/or Maths you will be required to either; take a Functional Skills qualification if you have achieved a Grade 1 or 2, or retake the GCSE if you’ve achieved Grade 3. You will be fully supported by our specialist team ahead of taking the exam.
The Access Diploma is credit based and validated by awarding bodies such as CERTA. To successfully complete, students must obtain 60 credits at Level 3. These include 45 credits which are graded pass, merit or distinction and 15 Level 3 credits which are ungraded. The Access Diploma offers a choice of three pathways. You will need to choose a pathway that is relevant to the Higher Education subject area that you wish to pursue.
The pathways currently include:
- Policing and the Social Justice System
- Education
- Health
Units from each pathway are chosen that are relevant to individual career goals. All pathways include units of study skills.
