Building Services
The course is directed at learners wishing to progress into either Electrical installations or Plumbing after successful completion of the core aim and Math's and English to allow entry onto the level 1 diploma course. The initial core units are taught as a whole group as they have generic content, related to safe working practices, Site working, Health and safety etc. After the core units are completed groups will be split into specialisms and practical workshop sessions and theory classes will be delivered. The ratio of delivery is approximately 60% workshop and 40% theoretical, classroom work.

Aspects of your chosen profession, from the practical skills to the theory behind the way of working. Our tutors will show you the correct practices that are carried out in the workplace and so best prepare you for progression, when the time is right. You will be taught to understand either electrical systems or plumbing systems and this will allow you to recognize good and poor practice and how to rectify.
You will require GCSE`s grades 1 / 2 or equivalent, including foundation Awards and Entry level certificates
There is an expectation each learner will undertake work experience, This can be arranged by the learner with the help of the college team to ensure that the placement is maintaining a safe working environment or potentially work experience may be offered through the colleges companies already providing placements for apprentices.
As part of the study Programme, learners will have the opportunity to visit relevant work environments and/or manufacturers to gain an understanding of the processes of the industry. Parental/guardian permission for trip is essential and will be sought at the beginning of the course to prevent delays or disappointment.
