Computer Science
Digital technology is where you’ll learn through creativity; you’ll soon be building imaginative games, digital interfaces and interactive products.
With a digital technology qualification you will become future-proof as you leave as an in-demand fusion of creative thinker and technical expert. Utilising tools you are familiar with; from gamification,to open-source prototyping platforms, you’ll be working with the world around you to develop the skills you need to go into a computing or gaming career.
The course is set up through a series of projects which are all industry focused, giving you a much greater understanding of the digital world. Working with real projects and local businesses, you will learn skills to become a true digital developer.
Study at Level:
Level 1
Level 2
At Level 1 and 2, you will study: Graphics, video, audio, games design and multi media
Level 1 - You will require a minimum of 3 GCSEs grade 1 or above
Level 2 – You will require a minimum of 3 GCSEs grade 3 or above including Maths and English, or a Level 1 in your chosen subject.
ENGLISH & MATHS
If you haven’t achieved a GCSE Grade 4 (C) in English and/or Maths, you will be required to either; take a Functional Skills qualification if you have achieved a Grade 1, or retake the GCSE if you’ve achieved Grade 2 or 3. You will be fully supported by our specialist team.
You will be expected to undertake work experience in your chosen field as part of the full time course
Relevant trips may be offered throughout the duration of your course
We can help you when deciding which course or option you wish to take. During your course we ensure you develop employability skills and gain relevant experience. We provide information, advice and support when completing your course and progressing to work or going into higher education. We are home to the Yorkshire & Humber Institute of Technology, meaning you will have the opportunity to progress onto a HE course that will prepare you for working in the digital world, right here at Scarborough TEC.
