Performing Arts - Stage & Screen

About This Course

If you have a passion for putting your creativity into practice, our Performing Arts Stage & Screen programmes will help you develop your skills ready for the industry of the future.
Explore all aspects of the growing performing arts industry?- including stage, screen and digital performance – in a highly practical, hands-on way. You’ll learn performance principles in acting, voice and movement, alongside production skills such as lighting, sound, stage and event management.

At Level 1, you will study a combined Performing Arts and Music qualification that will fully prepare you to progress onto our Level 2 Performance & Production or Music programmes.

At Level 2, you will focus on performance and production skills including theatre studies, principles of acting and production, application of contextual understanding, introduction to classical theatre, musical theatre and reflective practice.
All students have the opportunity to see a variety of productions, to give you the chance to experience live performance. In addition, you will receive specialist training in a variety of visiting workshops from our prestigious partners including the Stephen Joseph Theatre, CU Scarborough, Northern School of Arts, and the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain, among many other local and national industry professionals.

At Level 3, you will engage in highly reflective creative performance and production practice. Over the course of two years, you will explore a wide range of acting theories and practices including Stanislavski, Meisner, Le Coq, Brecht, and Laban. You will apply your understanding of these in a range of public and private performances including classical theatre, musical theatre, devised theatre, children’s theatre, story-telling, monologues and a diverse range of current digital media. In addition, you could explore in-depth production skills including direction, stage management, lighting, sound, and design.
