Media Make-Up

If you have a keen interest in the entertainment industry, but see yourself in a backstage role, our Media Make-up course could be just what you’re looking for.

Our Media Make-Up courses are available at Level/s 2, 3

Preparing performers and models for, shoots, stage and TV is more than just applying make-up, you will need to be skilled in applying looks that translate well on screen and stage and stand up against harsh lighting, and now more than ever, look impeccable on HD TV and increasingly advanced photographic equipment.

You will learn the art of lash and brow treatments, body art design, photographic make-up and tanning techniques. You will also study anatomy and physiology and hairstyling. Work experience will play a key role in the course and could include placements on fashion shoots and theatre productions.

English & Maths

If you haven’t achieved a GCSE Grade 4 (C) in English and/or Maths you will be required to either; take a Functional Skills qualification if you have achieved a Grade 1 or 2, or retake the GCSE if you’ve achieved Grade 3. You will be fully supported by our specialist team ahead of taking the exam.

HOW IS THIS COURSE ASSESSED?

These courses are assessed through unit assessments as required, ongoing written coursework and one externally set examination and assessment at both Levels 2 & 3.

WHAT NEXT?

We can help you when deciding which course or option you wish to take. During your course we ensure you develop employability skills and gain relevant experience. We provide information, advice and support when completing your course and progressing to work or going into higher education. When applying for university we can provide support with the UCAS application and Student Finance. You may choose to go self-employed or open your own business.

There are a range of business courses available to study at university on completion of the Level 3 course. Once you’ve received a Level 3 qualification you could progress into employment, or further your studies by taking other qualifications at Level 4, for example a Diploma in Advanced Beauty Therapy Techniques.
