About this course

About this apprenticeship

They provide person-centred care such as personal care, meal preparation, mobility assistance, emotional support and social engagement, while promoting choice and independence.

They work flexible shifts, sometimes independently and sometimes as part of a wider team, working with families, healthcare professionals and other services. They maintain accurate records, follow organisational procedures and comply with health, safety, safeguarding and environmental requirements while using appropriate PPE and equipment.

This Level 2 apprenticeship is wholly work based and delivered through independent study and workplace visits by a Vocational Trainer Coach.

What you Will Learn

  • Follow national standards, legislation, organisational policies and professional codes relevant to adult social care
  • Protect individuals’ human rights and promote equality, diversity, dignity and respect
  • Apply duty of care and candour while safeguarding adults and recognising signs of abuse or neglect
  • Provide person-centred care that supports health, wellbeing, independence, choice and positive risk-taking
  • Recognise individuals’ physical, mental and cognitive needs, including capacity and informed decision-making
  • Monitor, record and report changes in physical health, mental health, wellbeing or capacity
  • Communicate effectively using verbal, written, non-verbal and digital methods, adapting to individual needs
  • Maintain accurate and secure records while using digital systems and sustainable working practices appropriately
  • Support safe medication administration within organisational policies and the limits of the role
  • Maintain personal wellbeing, resilience and professional development through feedback, supervision, reflection and lifelong learning.

What Next?

On completion of this programme, apprentices will be a fully qualified and experienced Adult Care Worker. Allowing progression onto Level 3 apprenticeships such as Lead Adult Care Worker.
