About this course
About this apprenticeship
Their role is to provide high-quality education and care for children from birth to five, following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). They create inclusive learning opportunities for all children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
They work closely with children, parents, carers, colleagues and other professionals to support children’s development and wellbeing. They maintain a safe and inclusive environment, lead learning through play and use observation, assessment and planning to track progress. They may also act as a key person for individual children and take on leadership responsibilities where appropriate.
This Level 3 apprenticeship is wholly work based and delivered through independent study and workplace visits by a Vocational Trainer Coach.
What you Will Learn
- Promote equality, diversity, inclusion and respect for each child’s individual, social, cultural and developmental needs
- Follow safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, confidentiality and risk management procedures to protect children and colleagues
- Understand child development, attachment, play, learning and the impact of biological, environmental, emotional and social factors
- Build positive professional relationships with children, parents, carers, colleagues and other agencies involved in children’s care
- Act as a key person, providing sensitive care and supporting children’s wellbeing, identity, communication, relationships and emotional development
- Create safe, inclusive, stimulating indoor and outdoor environments that support child-centred learning and development
- Support children with SEND, EAL, communication difficulties and other individual needs through appropriate strategies and adaptations
- Use observation, assessment, planning and curriculum approaches to identify children’s needs, interests, progress and next steps
- Support children through transitions and significant events while encouraging independence, positive behaviour, risk awareness and decision-making
- Demonstrate professionalism, empathy, initiative, creativity, reflective practice and a commitment to continuous professional development.
What Next?
On completion of this programme, apprentices will be fully qualified and experienced Early Years Educators. Allowing a successful career in the childcare industry.
