About this apprenticeship
They support children’s learning, development, care and wellbeing through planned activities, purposeful play and educational programmes. Working under the guidance of qualified professionals, they work closely with children, parents, colleagues and other professionals.
They observe and support children’s development, meet individual care needs such as feeding and toileting, and help create a safe and secure environment. They also follow safeguarding and health and safety procedures, recognising and reporting concerns about children’s welfare or potential harm.
This Level 2 apprenticeship is wholly work based and delivered through independent study and workplace visits by a Vocational Trainer Coach.
What you Will Learn
- Understand children’s development from birth to seven, including physical, emotional, social, cognitive, language, literacy and numeracy development
- Support children’s wellbeing, learning, development, attachment, transitions and individual needs through appropriate care and activities
- Follow safeguarding, child protection, confidentiality, health and safety, and information-sharing requirements, recognising signs of abuse or harm
- Identify and manage risks, accidents, illness, emergencies, medicines, infection control, hygiene and safe working practices
- Promote healthy lifestyles through nutritious food, physical activity, personal hygiene, oral care, rest and appropriate care routines
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, carers, colleagues and professionals, including children with additional needs or English as an additional language
- Plan, deliver, observe, assess and review play and learning activities that support children’s language, creativity, social, literacy, numeracy and overall development
- Support children with special educational needs and disabilities through individualised plans, suitable resources and partnership working
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, carers and external professionals while respecting equality, diversity, inclusion and the child’s voice
- Demonstrate compassion, integrity, professionalism, teamwork, commitment and reflective practice while continually developing skills and knowledge.
What Next?
On completion of this programme, apprentices will be fully qualified and experienced Early Years Practitioner. Allowing progression onto Level 3 apprenticeships such as Early Years Educator.
