About this apprenticeship

Food and Beverage Team Members work across the hospitality industry in venues such as restaurants, cafés, bars, pubs, coffee shops and other licensed premises, for employers of all sizes.

Their role is to deliver excellent customer service by preparing and serving food and drinks, taking orders and payments, managing bookings, promoting products, upselling, resolving customer issues and maintaining clean, safe and welcoming environments. They also replenish stock and ensure front-of-house areas are ready for service.

They work closely with colleagues across the business, particularly kitchen teams, while interacting with customers throughout their visit and helping create a positive experience. Food and Beverage Team Members are responsible for meeting quality, hygiene, health and safety, financial and environmental standards. They contribute to stock control, service efficiency, profitability and continuous improvement, while ensuring food and beverages are served safely and professionally.

  • Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, health and safety, and comply with relevant legislation.
  • Operate equipment and technology safely, handle payments securely and report faults promptly.
  • Work effectively as part of a team, manage workloads, prioritise tasks and contribute during team briefings.
  • Monitor, rotate and replenish stock, minimising waste and supporting sustainable working practices.
  • Resolve or escalate customer complaints, act on feedback and continuously improve performance.
  • Demonstrate professionalism through reliability, appearance, timekeeping, inclusivity and commercial awareness.
  • Take responsibility for personal wellbeing and development while delivering a safe, customer-focused service.

Learning & Teaching Methods

This Level 2 apprenticeship is wholly work based and delivered through independent study and workplace visits by a Vocational Trainer Coach.

What Next?

On completion of this programme, apprentices will be fully qualified and experienced Food and Beverage Team Members. Allowing progression onto Level 3 apprenticeships such as Hospitality Supervisor.
