Production Chefs work in a wide range of settings, including restaurants, pubs, schools, hospitals, care homes, workplace canteens and maritime catering.
Their role is to prepare high-quality food, often in large volumes, using standardised recipes, menus and mainly pre-prepared ingredients.
Production Chefs work closely with kitchen teams, front-of-house staff, suppliers and in some settings, customers, typically reporting to a senior chef or kitchen manager.
They are responsible for producing food efficiently and safely, following food hygiene, health and safety, fire and allergen regulations, while maintaining high standards of organisation, sustainability, quality and teamwork.
This is a Level 2 apprenticeship.
This Level 2 apprenticeship has an approximate duration of 12 months and is wholly work based and delivered through independent study and workplace visits by a Vocational Trainer Coach.
On completion of this programme, apprentices will be fully qualified and experienced Production Chef. Allowing progression onto Level 3 apprenticeships such as Senior Production Chef.
