This will be performed to meet relevant ethical, professional and legal standards, and will utilise the individual’s knowledge of the business systems and processes, as well as standard accounting and tax practices. This role may exist in an accounting practice, a professional services company, or the accounting function of a business or other organisation.
Examples of roles a level 4 professional accounting apprentice may undertake are Assistant auditor, Assistant management accountant, Assistant financial accountant, Accounts payable and expenses supervisor, Commercial analyst, Payroll manager, Senior bookkeeper, Senior financial officer, Tax investigations officer, Personal tax assistant and Business tax assistant.
The full process normally takes 15 –18 months and enables the apprentice to prove skills in the workplace, gain a recognised qualification and practical, professional and technical skills to help you progress to further technical studies.
This is a Level 4 apprenticeship.
Students must have achieved the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting to progress and must also have significant workplace experience within a finance setting.

Delivery includes weekly classes to cover the requirements of the recommended qualification and most of the apprenticeship standard knowledge elements.
Visits to the workplace will be carried out to support and assess workplace competences, support the required consultative project and prepare the apprentice for End Point Assessment.
In addition to achieving full competency as an Assistant Accountant, achieving the AAT Level 4 Diploma in Accounting, the apprenticeship standard could lead to a range of accounting career pathways.
