About this course

About this apprenticeship

They carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs using skills in carpentry, plumbing, plastering, brickwork, tiling, painting and decorating. They use various hand and power tools while following health and safety and building regulations.

They inspect and report faults, work with customers and other trades, and may carry out both indoor and outdoor repairs. They also use digital systems to record work and consider sustainability, recycling and reducing environmental impact.

Operatives usually work independently under a supervisor or manager, taking responsibility for quality and customer satisfaction while recognising when a job is beyond their competence.

This Level 2 apprenticeship is wholly work based and delivered through independent study and workplace visits by a Vocational Trainer Coach.

What you Will Learn

  • Plan and carry out planned and reactive property maintenance safely and efficiently
  • Follow health and safety laws, risk assessments, PPE requirements and building regulations
  • Identify faults and repair electrical, plumbing, drainage, emergency and energy systems safely
  • Repair windows, doors, glazing, plaster, paintwork, tiling and flooring
  • Carry out repairs to masonry, damp proofing, roofs, fencing, railings, grounds and landscaping
  • Select and safely use suitable tools, equipment, materials and technical information
  • Record and report work using written and digital systems while protecting data
  • Follow environmental procedures, reduce waste, recycle materials and support energy efficiency
  • Communicate effectively with customers, colleagues and other trades while providing good customer service
  • Take responsibility for work quality, safety and competence, working as a team and continuing professional development.

On completion of this programme, apprentices will be fully qualified and experienced Property Maintenance Operatives. Allowing a successful career in the Construction industry.
