About this course

About this apprenticeship

They use warehouse management systems, scanners and mechanical handling equipment to manage stock accurately and efficiently. Operatives may work in temperature-controlled facilities, large distribution centres or warehouses using automated and robotic systems. They work closely with supervisors, stock control teams, drivers, customers, planners and other departments, typically under the direction of a Team Leader or Warehouse Supervisor. They are responsible for accurate stock handling, preventing damage, following safety procedures and ensuring orders are correctly prepared and dispatched. Shift work is common, including 24-hour operations.

This Level 2 apprenticeship is wholly work based and delivered through independent study and workplace visits by a Vocational Trainer Coach.

What you Will Learn

  • Follow safe working practices, including risk assessments, PPE, COSHH and relevant health and safety legislation
  • Safely use warehouse tools, machinery and handling equipment to move products
  • Receive, store, pick, decant, pack and dispatch products according to company procedures
  • Load and unload goods safely, considering weight limits, distribution and destinations
  • Maintain stock accuracy, quality control, stock rotation and support stocktaking activities
  • Follow procedures for returns, handovers and reporting or escalating issues beyond own responsibility
  • Use warehouse IT and digital systems correctly, following GDPR and cybersecurity requirements
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues, managers, customers and other stakeholders
  • Reduce environmental impact through efficient resource use, recycling, reuse, waste reduction and sustainable packaging
  • Take responsibility for assigned work while supporting safety, inclusion, wellbeing and ongoing learning.

On completion of this programme, apprentices will be fully qualified and experienced Supply Chain Warehouse Operatives. Allowing a successful career in the logistics industry.
