Transport to Scarborough TEC

For all students aged 16-18 years who are eligible to access a bursary we are able to offer free travel, using a local transport service, providing they live 2.1 miles or more away from their place of study, and have an annual household income of less than £24k and are training on one of our full-time courses.

Any student who is not eligible or who is 19+ and studying on a full-time programme will be eligible for a discounted ticket on their chosen bus route.

How to get your East Yorkshire Buses Scarborough TEC Bus Pass

Go to Google Play or the App Store and search for ‘East Yorkshire Buses’ – download the app to your phone (it’s free!). Do this prior to enrolment or on the day of enrolment if you can, or as soon as possible afterwards. If you don’t download the app by 9am on Thursday 3rd September 2020, your pass may not be ready for the start of term and you will have to pay for bus fares until it is ready, with no refunds available.

Don’t have an Apple or Android smartphone? Please contact the Student Services Team at Scarborough TEC as soon as possible.

Fully funded passes

New and continuing students can apply for a fully funded pass. Students must complete a Student Transport eligibility form and return it with the appropriate evidence it to the Transport Desk at our Filey Road Campus during enrolment or email the form with the appropriate evidence attached to [email protected] before 3rd September 2020.

All students should download the app, create an account using the email address given on the eligibility form. Please make sure that you spell your email address correctly or your ticket will not arrive. Your ticket will be added to your account for you, once you have done this. You will receive an email when it’s in your account, which will tell you how to finish setting up your ticket – it is important you look out for this email. You’ll be able to activate your ticket on the first day of term

For paying students (discounted Scarborough TEC pass)

On the East Yorkshire Buses app menu, tap ‘Mobile Tickets’ and choose the ‘Scarborough TEC’ section. Choose the appropriate ticket. Scarborough TEC staff can advise you which ticket to get if you are unsure. Choose the ticket, and tap ‘create an account’. Make sure the email address you sign up with is your Scarborough TEC email address (make sure you check the spelling!) or the address the college have for you, and choose a password, then click ‘Sign up’. You can now pay by debit/credit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. You’ll also have to upload a photo, which you can take using your phone – make sure it’s a sensible photo! You must do this by 9am on Thursday 3rd September 2020. Your ticket will be validated and ready to use on your device by the first day of term.

On the first day you’re going to travel, activate the ticket, and then simply show the pass on your device to the bus driver when you board the bus. If you don’t sign up to the app and choose your ticket by the deadline, your pass may not be ready for the start of term and you will have to pay for bus fares until it is ready, with no refunds available.

If your parents/guardians are buying your ticket for you, They can go to the website www.eastyorkshirebuses.co.uk they click on ‘buy tickets’ in the top right-hand corner, scroll down to the Scarborough TEC tickets and follow the instructions. The student should download the app onto their phone, and create an accounts. The student should then tap ‘mobile tickets’ and ‘redeem a gift code’ and tap in the code you’ve given them. They should then follow the instructions on the screen to add a photo, and then their ticket will be ready to use.

You’ll be able to activate your ticket on the first day of term

The East Yorkshire Buses app gives you the ability to plan journeys, buy bus tickets and find out real-time information on bus disruptions, so will be very useful as your travel around the area.
