TEC Partnership secures University of Hull Scarborough Campus

TEC Partnership secures University of Hull Scarborough Campus and announces the launch of a new Further and Higher Education College.

The TEC Partnership has agreed to the purchase of the University of Hull’s campus in Scarborough, the announcement, made today by Gill Alton, TEC Partnership’s Chief Executive, sees the Group also announce the launch of a new college which will increase the opportunity for further and higher education in the Borough.

The new college, which will be named Scarborough TEC, will have a clear focus on training, education and careers and will deliver the vision for further and higher education and professional training that is employment-focused. Scarborough TEC will be a college which understands and meets the needs of students and employers.  The college and its new campus will improve services to students and increase their opportunity to study programmes that are directly related to current and future labour market needs thereby supporting the region’s vocational and technical skills requirements and the local economy.

Yorkshire Coast College (YCC), part of the TEC Partnership, which is currently located on two sites in Scarborough will be the basis of a new college which will start delivering programmes from September 2017.

Plans for Scarborough TEC include dedicated facilities for the teaching of: construction, engineering, catering and hospitality, health and social care, arts and the media, business, enterprise and ICT, and leisure and tourism.  There will also be a firm emphasis on the development of flexible, higher level skills, which have been identified as a key requirement for the wider economy going forwards. Scarborough TEC will also offer a wide range of apprenticeships and work-based training.
